Bromsgrove Sporting 0
Solihull Moors 1 (Ryley 61')

A Kian Ryley goal was the difference between Bromsgrove Sporting and Solihull Moors on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the result meaning Sporting's unbeaten pre-season run came to an end, there were plenty of positives to take out of the match against National League opposition.

The Rouslers had a couple of chances early on in the game, with captain Luke Rowe seeing a free kick saved before Aksum White had a cross-shot claimed by keeper Laurie Walker.

Solihull's James Gale unleashed a pair of strikes on Charlie Price's goal inside the final 15 minutes of the half; the first of which was saved smartly by the Sporting stopper before the second opportunity went narrowly wide.

The home side almost got the second half off to the perfect start, but Aaron Bishop's shot was cleared off the line by a defender after initially beating Walker.

Shortly after, Solihull ramped up the pressure, as Olly Tipton put an effort just wide of the mark from range and former Bromsgrove-loanee Tyler Bruck had a shot blocked.

The opener came 61 minutes in; Finn Howell, who was also on loan at Sporting last season, put a cross into the box that found an unmarked Ryley, who stuck the ball in the goal via the post.

Four minutes later, a Moors Trialist forced Price to make a fine save with his feet, whilst Isaac Adegoke almost brought Sporting level in the 74th minute, but his attempt from distance was kept out well by Walker.

Solihull's Tahvon Campbell put the ball in the net with eight minutes remaining but it was ruled out for offside.

They had another chance to bag their second, this time in the 86th minute, but the lively Fin Holmes was unable to find the target with his drive.

Late on, Bromsgrove's Jamie Meddows found Harry Crook in the area with a pinpoint pass, but appeals for a penalty were ignored after he hit the ground following a tackle by a Moors defender.
