Two goals from Tobias Liversidge brought Bromsgrove Sporting's perfect start to their league campaign to an end.

Sporting skipper Chris Hussey gave the home side the lead before Liversidge headed the visitors level.

The winner was scored with a little over 20 minutes remaining; Liversidge slotted home from close range, with claims for a handball in the build up ignored by referee Said Ouchene.

The opener came 13 minutes in, as Hussey's effort from 30 yards skimmed beautifully across the ground before finding the bottom corner.

Sporting had massive chances to double the lead midway through the half - Jake Jervis had a one-on-one shot saved by Nomads keeper Brad Clarkson, which he followed by instinctively tipping over a Hayden Reeves attempt.

Liversidge levelled in the 36th minute when he dispatched a free header - nine minutes later, he almost had a second, but missed the target with a shot from range.

He would score his second eventually though; a free kick into the area was knocked into his path, from which he bagged at the back post. Sporting claimed the ball into him was via a handball, but the goal was given regardless.

Both teams had chances after the goal - Sporting's Lamin Barrow had a 71s minute strike palmed away before Tony Breeden had to be alert to save an Anstey header six minutes later.

Commenting on his side's first win of the season after two draws beforehand, a delighted Anstey manager Conrad Logan said: "Bromsgrove are one of the favourites to be promoted and I'm so proud of the lads for putting in a big shift.

"In our first two games, we didn't get the points we deserved, so that's probably evened itself out now."

Bromsgrove manager Tim Flowers gave an honest assessment: "I don't think we deserved much out of the game. We didn't enough of the nuts and bolts of Step Three football. I don't think we won enough first contacts and we certainly didn't win enough second balls

"We've still got lots to work on and ten months to do it, so we'll crack on with it."
