Alvechurch started off strongest keeping Sporting pinned back in their own half for the first 15 minutes but gradually the home side settled down and took more control of the game. In a fast-paced and quite competitive encounter both sides created a number of chances but solid defending at either end kept the score to nil-nil at the end of the first half.

With 63 minutes on the clock Alvechurch finally took the lead when Connor Deards made a fine run into the Sporting box hitting a low drive that went under the diving Shaun Edwards.

The lead though only lasted 3 minutes as home side won a free kick just on the edge of the Alvechurch penalty area that Brendan Kelly curled round the wall.

On 72 minutes Sporting took the lead when the lively Sean Brain crossed from the right for Josh McKenzie to nod home. Then just two minutes later Brain scored a fine individual effort when he beat a couple of defenders taking the ball to the goal line and instead of crossing into the goal area found a gap into the net from a narrow angle.

Although a friendly this was an entertaining match for the 100 or so spectators that should sharpen the Bromsgrove side up for Saturday's match at home to Heather St Johns.
