Pre-Season Friendly, Saturday 13th July 2024, 3:00 p.m. kick-off

AFC Wulfrunians 0 (0) Bromsgrove Sporting 3 (1) at Prestige Midlands Arena

Bromsgrove Sporting travelled up to leafy Castlecroft just outside Wolverhampton last Saturday for their second pre-season friendly and came away with a deserved 3-0 victory.

As with their previous match against Worcester Raiders, the Rouslers dominated proceedings from the outset forcing Wulfs to defend in numbers. However chances were few until the 12th minute when Billy Shaw received the ball in front of goal after a good exchange between Harry Crook and Kieran Cook, however the lively winger put his shot wide when it was easier to tap home.

The home side though started to express themselves more and started to get up field having a couple of decent efforts but nothing that troubled Charlie Price between the sticks for Sporting.

Wulfrunians though paid the price for over-committing themselves in the Bromsgrove half when Price saved from a promising move and hoisted the ball well into the opposition half where it was picked by Harry Crook who skilfully slid home under the home keeper with a single touch to give Sporting the lead.

Manager Paul Smith made seven changes for the away side at the beginning of the second half though it was the Wulfs who began stronger and could have equalised on the 51st minute but for a 30-yard effort going just over the bar.

However, four minutes later and Sporting doubled their lead when Keanu Cooper headed home from Luke Rowe's well-taken corner. Three minutes after that, it was a 3-0 lead as Aaron Bishop made a run into the box before passing to Zac Powell who shot ened up in the top left-hand corner of Wulfrunians net.

The home side then made a complete change to the outfield players and although this did not upset the balance of the paly, Sporting remained in control of the game and could have had a couple more when Bishop had a good effort saved and Cooper hit the woodwork when he tried to chip the home keeper.

So another decent work out for thew Rouslers who will be well-satisfied with both their performance and the result against useful opponents who play two divisions lower.
