MATCH REPORT: Anstey Nomads (A)

Anstey Nomads 0
Bromsgrove Sporting 1 (Harrison 14′)

Bromsgrove Sporting made it through to the Second Round of the FA Trophy on Saturday afternoon, with a one goal victory at Anstey Nomads.

Anstey – the only team to have beaten Sporting in the league this season – were beaten by Ollie Harrison’s 14th minute goal, on a torrid afternoon weatherwise.

The game’s only goal came via a short corner from Kieron Freeman to Brad Bood; from which, Bood crossed the ball into Harrison, who found the net with his shot – keeper Harley Price made contact with it but he was unable to keep it out.

Tendai Chitiza had a good opportunity for the home side nine minutes later – after cutting inside, he unleashed a shot that was well kept out by Sporting stopper Tony Breeden.

The 28th minute saw Jake Jervis sidefoot the ball over the bar from a corner, whilst Elliot Hartmann’s free kick with four minutes of the first half remaining nearly brought the Nomads level – hitting the crossbar before being cleared away.

Sporting’s Joe Doyle-Charles smashed a 57th minute effort over the bar, whilst his central midfield partner Simeon Maye had a shot from a promising one-on-one situation saved by Price 14 minutes later.

Substitute Oscar Tonge almost levelled proceedings in the 78th minute, but his strike was tipped over well.

Lamin Barrow had an injury time effort saved for Sporting, with that being the game’s final opportunity, as Sporting deservedly put themselves in the hat for the next round.
