OPPOSITION

  • This season: P30 W15 D5 L10. GD +3. 50 points. They sit 2nd (of 22 teams).
  • This season (home league games): P14 W8 D2 L4. GD +2. 26 points.
  • Last five league games: W2 D1 L2
  • Last five league home games: W2 D1 L2
  • Most recent league game: 1-0 loss at Royston (Tuesday)
  • Most recent home league game: 2-2 draw vs Banbury (25th January). All three of their league matches since have been away.
  • The Eagles’ league season has been action packed to say the least – no team has won more games (15 – tied with Halesowen). They’ve lost 10 (more than any team currently in the top five). With 53 goals, only league leaders Telford (56) have scored more, whilst with 50 goals conceded, only Lowestoft (70) and Hitchin (57), who are both in the relegation zone, have let in more. Their goal difference of +3 is the worst of all the teams in the current top 10 too. Somewhat ironically, their last two games have seen them lose and win 1-0.
  • It’s a similar story in their home games this season – only Telford (31) have scored more than Bedford’s 30, whilst only Hitchin (29) have conceded more than Bedford’s 28 – and Hitchin have played a game more.
  • They’ve scored in all but one of their 14 home league games (exception being a 3-0 defeat to St Ives on 9th November) and conceded in all but one of them (2-0 win vs Redditch on 21st September). That’s 11 home league games in a row where they’ve conceded.
  • Bedford have drawn two games at home this season – the Banbury game and a 1-1 with Royston on 13th August (their first home encounter of the season). This means they went 12 home games in between without drawing.
  • In their last five league games, their goal difference of -3 is the third joint worst in the league across this period (only Barwell’s and Lowestoft’s are worse and neither team has won in their last five).
  • In terms of their last five home games, they have the 16th best record in the league. With 22 goals in these five matches (10F 12A), no team’s last five home league matches have seen more goals.
  • They are winless in their last three at home (the Banbury draw, plus a 2-3 loss to Telford and a 1-5 defeat to Spalding). Prior to this run, they had won four in a row at home, which made up a five match winning league streak (home & away). This led to them being named the league’s Team of the Month for December.
  • They also went on an unbeaten run at the start of the league season (W4 D2).
  • Striker Leon Lobjoit is their top scorer this season – he went on a four game goalscoring streak in January.
  • They were knocked out of both the FA Cup and FA Trophy in their opening rounds of both competitions.
