COACHES’ CORNER: Tim Flowers Previews Redditch United

Ahead of Monday’s Worcestershire Senior Cup semi final at Redditch (7:45 KO), manager Tim Flowers has looked at our opponents and the fixture. He starts by reflecting on Saturday’s whirlwind win…

Saturday was a fantastic result for the club… in the end! At 3-1 down, with 10 men and 30 minutes left, you probably wouldn’t have seen it coming, but it was a real show of effort, resolve and commitment from the players. It really was fantastic and all the credit has to go the lads.

There were some really good individual performances and it was a big result for us – two teams down the bottom end and a win was of vital importance to both teams; we fortunately came out on the right side of it!

We haven’t got much time to dwell on it though, as it’s a 48 hour turnaround with a cup game at Redditch. Obviously it’s a tough game – we’ve got a few bumps and bruises in the camp so I’ll have to wait until Monday morning before making any decisions on shape or personnel.

They’ve got some really good players and Mike Fowler and his staff are doing a very good job with the side. They’re in the promotion hunt and are still in the Birmingham Senior Cup, claiming some big scalps along in that, and they’re obviously still in this competition too.

So we’re going to have to be at our very best to get anything from the game – and we’re aware of that. We’ll have to set up to be strong and maybe sometimes suffer without the ball.

We’ve got to try and back up Saturday’s win and try and keep some of the momentum from that victory.
