COACHES’ CORNER: Gavin Hurren Previews Nuneaton Borough

Ahead of Saturday’s Pitching In Southern League Premier Central match, at home to Nuneaton Borough (3:00 KO), manager Gavin Hurren has previewed the fixture, as well as reflecting on our recent postponed matches.

“It was frustrating to have a second away game in a week cancelled on Tuesday. It’s frustrating that lads had booked holiday days off and planned to make arrangements with childcare.

“We hope we can get a date in the diary soon so the lads can can rearrange work and family commitments and try and get another holiday day off.

“On a positive note, we did have a few injuries and it’s given guys another week of rest. Moly (Jamie Molyneux) would have been out on Saturday and Tuesday because he’s been poorly but hopefully, all being well with him, he’ll be back this Saturday.

“We’ll train well this week and look ahead to Saturday’s game. We had a really good game with Nuneaton at their place earlier in the season – the fans were brilliant that day.

“We hope to keep the level of performance up – bar the 30 minutes versus Rushall of course. Other than that half hour, I feel we’ve been in games, we’ve competed and we’ve played well in spells. We have got to keep getting those points on the board.

“12 games left. 12 cup finals. I’m looking forward to every single one of them. It will be nice to get back to the VG on Saturday in front of the home support. Our backing will hopefully be big and I know that Nuneaton will bring a few.

“The lads are looking forward to getting a run out, and I’m looking forward to it.”
