COACHES’ CORNER: Bren and Andy preview Hitchin Town

Ahead of Saturday’s match, at home to Hitchin Town (3:00 KO), manager Bren Kelly and assistant manager Andy Mason have both previewed the fixture.

Bren Kelly

“Hitchin at home tomorrow for us – another tough game that I really want to win. I’m still hurting from the last time we met, when they came to the Victoria Ground and beat us 2-1.

“If we repeat that display, we will get nothing from this game – it’s as simple as that.

“We still have several players not 100%, which is frustrating, but it’s a chance for other players to stake a claim for a shirt.

“We find ourselves with an identical win loss and draw tally as we did at this stage last year and considering we have played three of the favourites to be up there contending for the title, it’s not the worst start.

“The lads should not need motivating for this one! I expect them to be buzzing to put in a good performance. Look forward to seeing you tomorrow.”

Andy Mason

“Last Saturday’s performance wasn’t good enough and we have addressed that this week in our training sessions.

“We put a line under it and learn from it and we move on to the Hitchin game, which is going to be another very hard battle.

“Everyone seems to be able to beat anyone this season and we know we have got to be at our very best to get anything from this game.

“These are a very hard working side, with youth that never stop running. We have had two very good sessions and look forward to the challenge.

“We are still carrying some injuries and we will have to deal with that, but whoever steps on that pitch knows what is expected from them. See you on Saturday.”
