CHARITY PARTNERSHIP: Sporting x St Basils

Bromsgrove Sporting is delighted to announce a new charity partnership with St Basils, a homelessness charity supporting young vulnerable people in Bromsgrove and across the Midlands.

St Basils operates vital accommodation projects in Bromsgrove, providing safe spaces for young people at risk of homelessness, while helping them develop the skills needed to secure a brighter, independent future.

The partnership will see both organisations working hand-in-hand to raise awareness and much-needed funds to support young people facing homelessness. Sporting plans to engage fans and the wider community through a series of initiatives, encouraging everyone to get involved and support St Basils important work.

Representatives from St Basils will be at our game against Barwell tomorrow, where they will be carrying buckets should anybody wish to donate to this fantastic cause!

Rod Brown, Chairman of Bromsgrove Sporting FC, shared his excitement about the partnership, saying: “Bromsgrove Sporting is excited to be working with St Basils. As a club deeply rooted in the community, we want to help young people who, through no fault of their own, find themselves without basic facilities and care.

“We look forward to supporting St Basils’ projects and encourage our fans to join us in helping young people rebuild their lives.”

UK Electrical, a main sponsor of Bromsgrove Sporting, has long supported St Basils. Debbie Fellows, Operations Manager at UK Electrical, explains: “We often get asked, ‘Why St Basils?’ The answer is simple – no one deserves to be homeless. Especially young people who are just starting their adult lives.

“St Basils provides not only a place to stay, but also a nurturing environment that helps build self-esteem and independence.”

Barrie Hodge, Head of Fundraising and Communications at St Basils, highlighted the growing need for their services, saying: “We’re so grateful to have Bromsgrove Sporting FC as a charity partner. We’ve seen a 22% year-on-year increase in young people needing our help, driven by the cost-of-living crisis, rising rental prices, and the shortage of affordable housing.

“This partnership will make a real difference, helping us support more young people to overcome the challenges they face and build hopeful futures.”

This partnership is set to unite the Bromsgrove community in support of young people, with exciting initiatives to come that will inspire fans, players, and residents to make a lasting impact.
