CHARITY NEWS: Golf Day for Age UK

The chairman of Bromsgrove District Council, Cllr Sam Ammar, recently held a golf day and dinner to mark the end of her year in office and to raise funds for her chosen charity, Age UK – Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest.

Local businesses were invited to take part and to sponsor the event that was held at Bromsgrove Golf Centre on the Old Stratford Road.

Nobody from Sporting was available on the day to play golf but our chairman, Rod Brown, agreed to make a contribution by sponsoring hole number 14.

Rod unfortunately had a family commitment in the evening, so the Club was represented by former director Phil Baker, who attended on Rod’s behalf.

After the event Rod, said: “I was disappointed that I could not attend as it was my granddaughter’s birthday but the Club, as part of its outreach to community organisations, was happy to make a contribution to what I believe is a very worthwhile charity.”

Age UK are one of Sporting’s many charity partners – a full list of which you can read here.
