U21s
Bromsgrove Sporting U21s ran riot with an incredible 12-1 victory over Coalville Town U21s on Saturday, equalling their highest ever goal tally in a single match.
The home side were unstoppable as they ran rings around the visitors, whose second half goal did little to thwart the powerful Sporting attack.
Goalscorers included Hayden Baker and Ashton Hunt, with a double for Ethan Ward, and an incredible four goals each from Zak Parr and Alemi Obey-GM.
Speaking about the astounding victory, joint-manager Mark Reeve said: “It was a great result on Saturday.
“From taking a 3-0 lead into half time, I knew we could push on and asked for more in the second half.
“The response was delivered and we played good, fast following football, which is just what we have worked on over the past weeks in training,” he said.
The U21s hit the road again this Saturday (29th August), when they visit Coventry United U21s (10:30 KO).
U18s
Meanwhile, the U18s team had an active week, starting with a 4-1 victory against Worcester City U18s.
The friendly, played at South Bromsgrove High School on Wednesday, allowed under-18s manager Dave Andrewartha to let his squad play in different positions, which he said was ‘a great opportunity to get more minutes into the lads’ and to ‘work on different aspects of our game’.
The youth side then went on to face Paget Rangers away in the Midland Floodlit League on Monday night and came away with a 1-3 win.
It was a mellow start from Sporting’s under-18s, but two goals from George Andrewartha and one from Alfie Satchwell shifted momentum Bromsgrove’s way and sealed the victory.
“I’ve been incredibly proud of the lads and the quality they’ve shown, both with and without the ball,” Dave Andrewartha said.
“There’s been plenty of hard work, desire and a real willingness to keep improving as a team.
“Another positive week for the group, and we keep pushing forward.”
The U18s will enjoy a well-deserved Bank Holiday Monday off, but return on Monday 7th September, to take on Kidderminster Harriers away, at The Dell Stadium (7:45 KO).
