U21s SUMMARY: The Latest News

This article about our U21s side, from Matt Tennant, reflects on another big win and this weekend’s fixture…

Bromsgrove Sporting’s U21s disrupted high flyers Sporting Khalsa Youth U21s with a strong 3-1 performance – chalking up their second win of the season.

The Rouslers built on the momentum gained from their first victory just a week before and created opportunities early in the game before Zak Parr’s strike saw Bromsgrove take the lead.

Sporting Khalsa showed their skill and discipline by responding with a leveller mere minutes after Bromsgrove’s opener – an even scoreline going into half time.

It was a close contest for the majority of the second half, with both sides showing skill in defence and flair upfront. But in the end, it was Bromsgrove who made the breakthrough, when George Gillon found the back of the net to put the home side ahead.

Bromsgrove’s Ethan Ward delivered a last minute stunner to secure consecutive wins for Sporting’s U21s.

Bromsgrove Sporting U21s joint-manager, Mark Reeve, said: “It’s great to get back to back wins for the first time this season.

“We were level at half time after chances for both sides, but improved in the second half to take the win.

“We had chances to extend the scoreline with the ball hitting the crossbar once and the post twice, but credit to the boys for their performance against a good, well-organised Sporting Khalsa,” he added.

The result sees Bromsgrove move up to thirteenth in the league table on six points, while Sporting Khalsa Youth fall to third after being overtaken by Boldmere St Michaels U21s.

Sporting’s U21s end September with two wins and two losses after radical improvement over the course of the first full month of the season.

The team will continue their league campaign in October by welcoming Rushall Olympic U21s at home in the first of three home fixtures this month. Bromsgrove are also set to visit last season’s league champions Bedworth United U21s at The Oval.

This month also features a local U21s league derby against Redditch United U21s and the highly anticipated return of the County Cup, which Bromsgrove will kick off by facing AFC Kempsey Firsts.

This week, Bromsgrove Sporting U21s take on Rushall Olympic U21 in the start of a busy October for the team.

Bromsgrove have been dealt some tough matchups to start this season and Rushall Olympic U21s are no exception.

The Walsall unit will arrive this weekend unbeaten, boasting four wins and one draw in the league so far this season.

Their top performances include a 0-8 victory on the road against Coalville Town Ravens U21s and a 5-0 win against Sporting Khalsa Youth U21s. Sutton United U21s remain the only team to have held Rushall to a draw following a tight 2-2 finish.

Rushall U21s are currently fourth in the league with 13 points, and have positioned themselves as a challenging opponent.

While Bromsgrove may not share quite as eyecatching scorelines as Rushall Olympic U21s, the team has become more unified with every game – recent results emphasising how they are continuing to grow stronger as a group.

Will Rushall Olympic U21s move into the top three in the league, or can Bromsgrove overcome another formidable team to make it a hat-trick of wins?

Find out on Saturday 4th October when Bromsgrove Sporting U21s welcome Rushall Olympic U21s to The UK Electrical Stadium with a 10:30 AM kick off – please arrive through the Shed End entrance.
