NEWS ROUND-UP: Ladies team fixture, player sponsorship + more

The following is a Sporting news round-up.

Player sponsorship

  • Plenty of players and management staff have been sponsored in the last week and we thank everybody who has done so thus far. There are still some players left though – who can be sponsored for just £75. Email jason_sola@yahoo.co.uk if you are interested in sponsoring a player.

Ladies team fixture

  • Our ladies fixture vs Worcester City Ladies, scheduled for 4th October, has been postponed. A new date will be announced in due course.

Foodbank collection update

We have ended our Tuesday foodbank collection that started at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Co-ordinator and Club director Phil Baker explained, “In the last few weeks we have seen donations tail off considerably so it is now not worth opening the Victoria Ground for people to drop of food or supplies. We started back in March and over six months we reckon that the local foodbanks have between them received around 5000 items.

“However, we understand that demand is still high from people in need so instead we would suggest that potential donors use supermarket collection points or send direct to the two organisations ran out of New Starts at Aston Fields and Catshill Baptist Church.

“Can we thank everybody who has supported the collection during this difficult time. We may do collections at future home matches depending on circumstances and restrictions in place at the time and will announce that on our website and social media.”
