Following Saturday’s Legends Game, in aid of Prostate Cancer UK, Sporting’s vice captain, Aaron Roberts, and Welfare Officer, Iain Queen, who both helped to organise the event, wished to show their appreciation...
Aaron commented: “I would like to thank everyone, especially those working behind the scenes who made the day possible.
“The bar and food staff were excellent on a very busy afternoon and, last but not least, the players who have worked with me over the last four weeks to make sure we had two teams of club legends available to make sure the game could go ahead.”
Iain commented: “We were delighted with how the day went for a number of reasons. Firstly, we were able to raise money and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK. It was great to see fans purchasing the Prostate Cancer UK badges and picking up the ‘Know Your Prostate’ guide books at the Ground. Even if we have inspired one person to get checked, then the whole day was worthwhile.
“A massive well done to the Sporting legends who came together at the VG to help support the cause – the game was highly competitive, with some excellent goals scored.
“Finally, a big thank you to the 445 supporters who came to support the event and helped raise over £2000 for Prostate Cancer UK.”
