CLUB NEWS: Boardroom Changes

The Bromsgrove Sporting board wish to announce that both Phil Baker and John Smith have given notice that they will be standing down from the board at the end of this season.

Both men are long standing members of the board. Phil, who was part of the initial group that set up Sporting, has also headed up safety and security at the club and been Company Secretary during his 15 years with Sporting.

John, who has been part of the team for the last 10 years, has overseen boardroom hospitality and been the licensee for the Rousler Bar.

On behalf of the board, we cannot thank them both enough for all their devoted efforts over the years – the club owes them both a debt of gratitude.

We are pleased to announce that both Phil and John have stated that they wish still to help out around the club, alongside the many other brilliant volunteers.

As part of our re-build of the club, we would like to announce the appointment, and return, of Rob McLaren to the board.

Chairman Rod Brown commented: “Once Richard Boorn (Vice Chairman) and I were appointed, we both knew Rob was an obvious choice to enhance the board.

“I have known Rob for a long time and admired what he has helped Alvechurch to achieve with his skillsets.

“Rob will be responsible for identifying and gaining grants to further enhance the club’s sustainability, plus take full responsibility for match day facilitation on safety and security.”

Speaking on his return, Rob commented: “It’s great to be back at Sporting, to finish the project I helped start in 2008.

“I really enjoyed my time at Alvechurch and have learned a lot from Richard Thorndike (Chairman) and the rest of the team there. Getting the Hayes facility up and running was a real achievement and I was proud to be a part of the process.

“I’m looking forward to working with the Executive Board and starting out on the next exciting stage of this young club’s development.”

The club looks forward to welcoming Rob back to the team.
