‘Wednesday Words’ this week comes from midfielder Nathan Hayward. He talks about Saturday’s win over Aylesbury United, the midweek defeat to Alvechurch, the quality in the squad and playing for such a great fan base.

“Saturday was great a result and we controlled the game in the first half, especially with the chances we were creating – even though we had a poor second half, we still looked the better team.

“The goals we are scoring, with Will’s (vs Kidlington), Josh’s (vs Alvechurch and Sutton Coldfield) and now Cameron’s opener on Saturday are unbelievable and there’s me with a four yard toe poke against Alvechurch! Ha!

“But all joking aside, it shows the quality we have in this squad to be doing that on a regular basis. I’d like to thank the gaffer and the staff for bringing me off at half time Saturday, as I felt as rough as toast.”

“We were unlucky yet again to not come away with the win last night or at least take it to penalties. We started really positively and even after the sending off, the lads showed great character and work rate right to the end.

“It isn’t the result we wanted but a lot of positives can be taken into the next game, as we look to keep our momentum going in the league.

“I’m looking forward to the next game and playing in front of our great fan base.”
