U18s TEAM: Statement

Bromsgrove Sporting FC have decided that, as of next season, we will not field a team in the Midland Floodlit Youth League. We now have a very busy and active Colts set up that have the ability and infrastructure to run teams at under 18s level.

We also have an academy providing opportunities for 16-18 year olds, promoting both football and education.

Our very successful and hard-working under 18s manager Alan Horton has been there since the beginning and, along with his coaching team, has decided to venture into a new challenge with Bromsgrove Sporting Ladies.

Mike Burke, Bromsgrove Sporting chairman, said: “It has been a difficult decision to give up the floodlight team, as it has always been successful, but we feel that with the provision available for U18s with both the academy and the colts, it was time to focus on something new.

“I would like to thank everyone who has helped with the U18s, particularly Alan.”

Alan Horton commented: “On behalf of Bromsgrove Sporting U18s, I would like to thank the Club for giving me the opportunity to manage the boys.

“I also want to thank my coaches over the floodlit years and a massive thank you to the BSSS (Bromsgrove Sporting Supporters Society) for all their support in training and registration fees and match night support, particularly to Joe Amess, Charlie Rudge, Maria Murphy and Victor Agüera.

“I’d also like to thank our match secretary, Peter Sedgwick, for all his hard work and wish him well for the future.

“It has been a dream come true for me and I hope with the same support from the Club and the BSSS, I will have success with the Ladies team and take them to the next level.”
