PYKETT’S FAREWELL: Popular winger’s last game today before Australia move

Sporting midfielder John Pykett will be playing his last game for the Rouslers today (versus Needham Market), as he will be going to Australia next week.

These are due to personal reasons, plus an opportunity to play in the Australian second division.

John wanted to say the following: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to every single person who I have come across during my time with the club, making me feel so welcomed and loved.

“I will always be proud of what we have achieved and the memories we have had over the past four years. Today will be my last game, as I’ve had an opportunity to move to Australia to carry on my football career out there.

“I will continue to follow the lads and wish you all the luck in the future! Thanks again, JP.”

Manager Bren Kelly commented: “All the best to our Pykett. A lad that has set up and scored many important goals in the club’s growth and progression, never moaning about not playing every minute.

“He is truly a very reliable lad and always gave his best; a real crowd pleaser and chipped in with some cracking performances.

“I wish him all the very best in his new adventure. Thanks for the memories bud.”

Chairman Mike Burke said: “Its been a pleasure to know John and his family. I, like all fans, got that buzz every time John came on as a ‘super sub’ and it’s a shame circumstances didn’t allow him more starts.

“Yet he still got on with it, giving his all for the team. I wish him good luck over in Australia and perhaps, with his contacts, we can arrange a friendly?! (Overnight stay of course!). Thanks John.”

Make sure you come down to the VG today to give John the send off he truly deserves!
