Jason Cowley was voted 2018/19 Player of the Season by the fans, with Nathan Hayward finishing second and Charlie Dowd third.
Voting took place before our Easter Monday encounter with Coleshill Town, with the results announced in the Rouslers Bar after the match.
Striker Jason, who collected his third fans player of the season in a row, expressed his gratitude at winning the award: “Thank you to every single fan that has voted for me; not just this year but for the last 3 seasons.
“I can’t thank you enough. It’s still a long way to go for us to say we have achieved what we should have for the season, so we have to just keep winning and keep momentum up going into the play offs.”
Midfielder Nathan, who joined Sporting in the summer from Worcester City, became an instant hit with fans, thanks to his no-nonsense, determined performances.
He was quick to recognise Jason’s achievement: “First and foremost, congratulations to Jason on winning – it is thoroughly deserved, as he has been class this season and has a bright future.
“Secondly, thank you for everyone that voted for me. It has been an absolute pleasure playing for the club and I would like to thank everyone, from the lads to the gaffer and Mase (Andy Mason) and especially the fans, as their support has been incredible throughout.
“Thanks for making me feel so welcome and loved. The main objective now is to win promotion, so I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.”
Winger Charlie Dowd also joined the club in the off-season, having previously been a part of the Burton Albion youth set-up.
“In my first season playing for Bromsgrove, I am glad to come third for player of the season, as there are loads of quality players in this squad. Congratulations to Jason and Nathan,” he commented.
The award was presented to Jason by Bromsgrove Sporting Supporters’ Society member Matt Foden.
Matt, who has been a Bromsgrove football fan for nearly 25 years, described it as a ‘great honour’ to give the striker his award.
“It was great to be able to present the supporters Player of the Year to Jason, as well as congratulating Nathan and Charlie,” he added.
Matt will be running the London Marathon on Sunday; £140 was raised at the Coleshill game by fans, for which he said he was very appreciative of.
