Chairman Mike Burke has reflected on another historic season for Sporting, plus news of Jason Cowley’s move to Stevenage.
“As pleased as I am for Jason, it’s somewhat of a bittersweet feeling for me, as we have shared an amazing journey these last three years.
“Jason deserves all the success he can get and I wish him and his family all the best.”
Talking about the season just passed, Mike said: “I’d like to thank all the volunteers, staff and directors that have worked so hard again this season in so many different areas.
“They all complete the amazing jigsaw that is a crucial part towards success on the pitch.
“From highly visible areas, like the pitch, and less obvious but every bit as important areas, such as hospitality and turnstiles, website and social media, programmes, post match cleaning of the ground and changing rooms, looking after the kit and getting all the paperwork correct with league and FA – I’m sure I’ve missed some out and if I have, I apologise but thank you all.
“It doesn’t stop now the season is over, and this is where all fans can help. Work will be taking place during the summer to maintain and improve the ground to keep it a place we can be proud to welcome our new visitors for next season. Everyone is welcome to come along and help their club.
“Finally, thanks to all the fans who make all the work worthwhile and the success justified… now we go again; season 2019/20 – Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division Central!”
