Bromsgrove Sporting made it five pre-season matches unbeaten on Monday afternoon, courtesy of a 2-0 win over Sutton Coldfield Town at Coles Lane.
Both goals came inside the first half; the first being a central to goal free kick from just over 20 yards that Josh Quaynor delightfully curled it into the bottom corner and the second a cracker from Will Shorrock, who cut inside and beautifully whipped the ball into the top corner.
Shorrock and Nathan Hayward both had early chances for Sporting, whilst a Sutton player, from inside his own half, attempted to catch Sporting stopper Daniel Platt off his line – the effort ended up just wide, but did raise a few gasps from onlookers though.
Sporting continued to enjoy chances, with Charlie Dowd and Liam Spink having opportunities, but the opener would come 27 minutes in, as Quaynor scored his exquisite free kick after Mikey Taylor was fouled.
Four minutes later, the lead was doubled, as Shorrock got in on the act of scoring crackers, cutting inside and bending the ball majestically into the top of the goal from outside the box.
Platt had to be alert early in the second half, making a save with his leg and a couple of diving stops to frustrate Sutton.
The hour mark saw Kieren Westwood play through a Trialist, who had a drive from inside the area brilliantly saved by the keeper. A corner followed, which was headed onto the bar by Leon Broadhurst.
Soon after, another Sutton chance, this a header, was brilliantly saved by a diving Platt, who had an amazing half in between the sticks.
Late on, a Sutton header went wide, ensuring a deserved clean sheet for Platt.
