Bromsgrove Sporting extended their unbeaten run in this season’s pre-season schedule to four matches on Saturday afternoon, with a 3-1 win over Leicester Road.
An early Kieren Westwood opener was cancelled out 34 minutes in by a Simon Alcott goal, before a Mikey Taylor penalty late in the half put Sporting back in front.
A Josh Quaynor header just a minute into the second half doubled Bromsgrove’s advantage and proved to be the game’s final goal.
It took just two minutes to take the lead, as Westwood made space for himself on the edge of the area and dispatched the ball neatly into the bottom corner.
Charlie Dowd forced the keeper into a save 16 minutes in, whilst Westwood put an effort wide from a similar position to his goal soon after.
The 33rd minute saw Jack Wilson go on a cracking long run, eventually playing in Mikey Taylor, who’s shot went out for a corner – however, Leicester Road counter-attacked from that corner, leading to Alcott striking into the net via a deflection.
The lead was restored two minutes from the interval, as Mikey Taylor directs a penalty low and accurately into the keeper’s left hand corner after Josh Ezewele was brought down in the box.
46 minutes in, the Rouslers scored their third, as a Westwood cross was knocked in via a diving header from Quaynor.
Quaynor had plenty of involvement thereafter too; firstly, his free kick from 30-odd yards drew a decent save from the Road stopper before another free kick was headed narrowly over by Mikey Taylor.
The final opportunity of the game would fall to Mikey Taylor, as he had a shot saved, from which the ball ricocheted off him and onto the crossbar and out of play.
