Bromsgrove Sporting 1 (T. Taylor 13′)

Nuneaton Borough 3 (Kettle 26′, Henshall 54′, Powell 77′)

Nuneaton Borough recorded their first away win in the league this season in style, brushing aside a lethargic Bromsgrove Sporting 3-1.

The home side got off to the best start, as Tom Taylor gave them the lead 13 minutes in, but a header from Joel Kettle, before goals from Alex Henshall and Callum Powell ensured the Boro would bag all three points with ease.

Nuneaton’s Devon Kelly-Evans had the first chance of the game, with a strike just over from 20 yards, which was closely followed by Bromsgrove’s Greg Mills having a free kick just kept out by keeper Jordan Wright.

The opener came soon after, as a corner that Nuneaton were unable to deal with allowed Taylor to hit the ball into the goal through a melee of bodies.

The equaliser came 26 minutes in, as a Luke Benbow free kick curled invitingly into the area was headed into the bottom corner by Kettle.

The remainder of the half was all Nuneaton; an Isaiah Osbourne one-on-one hit wide and a brace of chances for Benbow, the latter a volley saved well by Tony Breeden, were just some of the many chances the visitors had before the half’s end.

Nuneaton’s second came as Kelly-Evans bombed up the wing, before putting a ball in that an unmarked Henshall tapped into an empty net at the back post.

Powell and Henshall both had chances but were unable to convert, whilst substitute Shaquille McDonald had a 30 yard free kick tipped over for Bromsgrove.

The third came as the dangerous Powell cut inside the defence, unleashing a shot that deflected off defender Kyle Lincoln, eventually looping over Breeden and into the goal.

McDonald had a late shot palmed away from the top corner by Wright but Sporting were poor for most of the afternoon, as Nuneaton ran out deserved winners.
