Bromsgrove Sporting had to dig deep to extend their unbeaten start to their league season, with Charlie Dowd firing the Rouslers to a 1-0 win over Dunstable Town.
Will Shorrock blazed a volley over the bar in the early moments of the first 45 but the best chance of the half fell to Richard Gregory, who was left one on one with Dunstable keeper Fred Burbidge after a fine through ball from Jason Cowley. However, the prolific striker could only find the feet of the stopper with his low effort.
Chances in quick succession five minutes into the second period for Dunstable‘s Arel Amu and Daniel Trif almost gave the visitors the lead but it was Dowd who put Sporting in the lead just after the hour mark. Nice team play by Shorrock, Gregory and Jason Cowley led to the ball falling on a a plate for Dowd, who rifled home from inside the area with virtually his first touch of the game.
Arel Amu had another chance soon after, but the feet of Reece Francis were equal to it. Up the other end, Shorrock and Cowley both had well struck efforts fizz just beyond the goal, but the second goal ultimately never came for Sporting, with the defence equal to everything thrown at them by the visitors in the final moments.
