COLTS NEWS: A round-up of action and events

The following is a round up of Bromsgrove Sporting Colts news and events.

Team of the Month – U13 Gators

The Under 13 Gators (pictured above) bagged the League in February with three games to spare, winning all but one game and being 15 points above their nearest rivals.

Other news

  • Possible trophy winners include U17 Girls, who have been top of the CWGFL Premier League all season. They are currently three points clear, but with two. games in hand on Burton Albion. Alvis Juniors are the only team that could possibly catch them (3rd place, six points behind but with two games in hand). The girls are still very much involved in the League Cup too.
  • The U18 Shamrocks have the chance of a possible treble – they are top of their league with two games left. They are also in the semi final of both the Worcestershire County Cup and the Presidents Shield.
  • The U12 Athletic, with three games left, still have an outside chance of winning their league, with a lot depending on other results.
  • The U16 Reds have reached the Semi-Final of the Worcestershire County Cup.

Owain Taylor – big breaks

Owain played for Colts team Emeralds until they dispersed, followed by Walsall Academy. He was included in the Bromsgrove Sporting first team squad, with yet another accolade coming in mid-February, as he played for England Colleges in Italy.

They played against Kosovo, Malta and Lazio, playing to a very high standard. They are due to play against Wales in March.

This means Owain becomes the first ex-Colt to play for England at any level.
