COACHES’ CORNER: Bren Kelly previews Yaxley

Ahead of Saturday’s Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central visit to Yaxley, manager Bren Kelly has previewed the fixture, as well as mentioning player latest and the improved performance against Thame United.

“This Saturday sees us make a 200 mile round trip to Yaxley and play on a unfamiliar 4G surface.

“If the home game against Yaxley is anything to go by, it’ll be another stern test, as I certainly believe Yaxley are in a false position.

“They caused us many problems going forward and are a very dangerous side.

“They took the lead at the VG but at that time, I was questioning our lads character – fair play to them, they battled back to take a 2-1 victory, which was pleasing.

“This week, I have plenty of choice with the squad – Aaron Roberts is on holiday and Jonah (Craig Jones) has a bit of a bug but I’m expecting him to be okay; otherwise, it’s a full squad available for selection.

“Last Saturday was our most complete performance of 2019 and it’s imperative we try to repeat that this Saturday.

“I felt our decision making and defending was much improved – we’ve already shown we can be a huge threat going forward, so hopefully we can continue doing so this Saturday.”
