Ahead of our Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central play-off semi final with Sutton Coldfield Town on Wednesday (7:45 KO), manager Bren Kelly has looked at the season as a whole, the importance of keeping the performance levels high for this game and a rallying cry for more incredible support.
“This Wednesday, we encounter the club’s first ever experience of play offs for promotion.
“Following a very productive season, we find ourselves two wins away from step three, which is a fantastic achievement.
“However, nothing has been won yet – all we have done is raise some eyebrows and surprised some people.
“The fact we have put ourselves in this position means we will certainly want to try and win these playoffs, otherwise it’ll just be a season of glorious failure and I don’t want to experience that at all.
“The squad is strong again – we are just sweating on Tom Taylor’s fitness but I’m confident he will be okay.
“Our opponents have also had a brilliant season under my friend Toothy (Neil Tooth).
“The game will certainly be a close one, like it has been in the previous meetings this season.
“Our application and desire will need to be at its best for us to get anything from the game.
“We will also need to have huge contribution levels from the players individually, and collectively, if we want to win .
“It’s by far the club’s most important game in its short history and we are delighted to be here and will enjoy it if we can.
“The support this year has been incredible and we now need one more big push to get two more wins to achieve step three football, starting with a win on Wednesday hopefully.”
