Ahead of this Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round match versus Leicester Road, manager Bren Kelly has previewed the fixture, including a look at the history between the two teams and the importance of respecting the opposition.
“This weekend, we are back at our beloved VG for a fixture in the biggest cup competition on the planet.
“The FA cup is upon us and we face Leicester Road.
“Following an unbeaten start to the league campaign, with some more than eventful games thus far, we can turn our focus to cup football.
“A game we are taking very seriously and are looking to win, and also improve on certain areas in our game that haven’t gone so well thus far.
“We had some tussles with Leicester Road during our Invincibles Season, but I imagine two very different sides will take to the field on Saturday.
“Prize money is at stake and we are hungry for it – we will be seen as favourites given the divide in our respected league divisions, but cup football is all on the day, so we must be prepared correctly and the squad must want to take the opportunity to improve on their game.
“There are no fresh injury worries going into this one; the weather is due to be nice, so we would love a packed out VG to play in front of and to try and pull off a positive performance and result.
“See you all Saturday.”
