COACHES’ CORNER: Bren Kelly previews Coleshill Town

2019 kicks off with an Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central match versus local rivals Coleshill Town. Sporting manager Bren Kelly looks ahead to the fixture, as well as reflecting on the festive period thus far.

“So far so good from the festive period and I’m pretty pleased with our return of points.

“Another game tomorrow against a dangerous Coleshill side, who can beat anyone on their day.

“The squad has been utilised in the last 10 games or so and I’ll continue to do just that, although not wholesale changes, as I believe you need the bulk of a side to be settled to find consistency with performance levels.

“A resolute performance against Sutton got us the three points on Boxing Day, in front of an amazing record breaking crowd for a league fixture, which Sutton must take some plaudits for their part; the band was brilliant.

“AFC Dunstable was a different test; a team who came and played a 4-3-3 and tried to win the game. We didn’t show up first half but more than made up for it once I addressed the issues at half time.

“That win takes us into Coleshill with belief and confidence, as we again try to pick up points on the road.

“Hope to see as many of the Sporting faithful as possible there on New Year’s Day.”
