Ahead of our final Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central league game of the season, a trip to Berkhamsted, manager Bren Kelly has previewed the fixture, includes the importance of finishing on a high, competition for places and continued praise for our phenomenal fanbase.
“This week, we travel to Berkamsted for our final league fixture of the season; a long trip, but we will aim to make it as enjoyable as possible.
“There are three main incentives for the players to perform in this game.
“Firstly, they are the only team we have not beaten this season, as we drew with them at the VG 3-3, so the lads will want to put that right.
“The second incentive is for the players to get into my head with a good performance and claim a shirt for Wednesday 1st May.
“This time of year, some people say players can get a bit leggy and tired, but last season, we almost played two games a week, nearly every week, and at this stage last season, we were playing three games, sometimes four, in a week, with a smaller squad, so there is no room for fatigue in my book.
“The lads should, and will be, raring to go to get the three points.
“The third incentive is to make sure our travelling supporters go home happy.
“They have truly been fantastic all season on the road; they have been noisy and behind us all the way, so we want to make it a good day for them too.
“Berko have had a brilliant season themselves, after coming up from step five like ourselves and no doubt they will want to finish on a high, so it makes for a good encounter.
“The squad is strong and everyone is available. We are all wanting a positive result.”
