Ahead of Saturday’s home game versus Aylesbury, Sporting manager Bren Kelly takes an in-depth look at the game, as well as the progress of the squad as a whole, statistics relating to the squad, the importance of our ever-present fan base and our new social media channels for the Bromsgrove Sporting Colts.
“This Saturday we go into this game with three wins from three, scoring 12 goals and conceding two, so I think it’s safe today we are in decent form – however, Saturday will be a very difficult task.
“In the reverse fixture, we came up against a very hard working side who battle right to the final whistle and I’m expecting the exact same again.
“As I pointed out above, our recent form has been good and what’s most pleasing about is that the whole squad have contributed.
“I am confident that no matter what XI I pick, the team is not weakened in any way and it shows we have strength and depth in the squad, along with quality.
“The likes of Jake Heath, Jack Cresswell and Ash Pryce all contributed to the last three wins, even though they didn’t start the games.
“In addition to this, I feel the reason there is strength and depth is that, week in week out, we have 20 plus lads at training – all fighting to get into the 16 man squad and it’s fantastic to watch the lads push each other on the training pitch.
“We are 12 league games and three cup games into the season, so pretty much one third into our first season at step four.
“As of last Saturday, we are scoring 2.75 goals per game and conceding 0.69 per game, which is not a bad start to the campaign.
“In this second third of the season, I will look to make sure we as a team evolve and try to improve even further and I will certainly be utilising the squad.
“It’s important we maintain our identity in how we play but it’s also important we don’t stand still – we need to create other options with our play, both in defence and attack .
“In our debut season, we are smashing the attendance records and we cannot thank the Sporting faithful enough for the support they give us home and away.
“It’s incredible for this level of football, but it also shows we have a fan base that is worthy of higher up the football pyramid, which is what we all want.
“So thank you once again, one and all, who come to the games.
