Redditch United 1 (Watts 46')
Bromsgrove Sporting 2 (Shorrock 44', Broadhurst 90+3')

Bromsgrove Sporting resumed their Red Recruitment Cup campaign with a 2-1 win at Redditch United.

Winger Will Shorrock gave Sporting the lead with a well taken effort just prior to half time, before substitute Jack Watts levelled proceedings a minute after the interval.

It looked destined to be a draw before Bromsgrove captain Leon Broadhurst converted in the third minute of additional time to ensure Sporting would take all three points away from the Trico Stadium.

Broadhurst almost netted in the fourth minute, but was unable to make contact with a Josh Quaynor free kick at the far post.

The home side enjoyed some good chances thereafter, with former Rousler Tom Rankin heading over, Kieran Day striking a 20 yard free kick narrowly wide, Jordan Clement hitting an audacious long range lob just wide of the mark, and Daniel Sweeney drawing a good save from Daniel Platt via an effort from an acute angle.

The visitors took the lead in the 44th minute, courtesy of some individual brilliance from Shorrock. He picked the ball up in the middle of the park, drove forward confidently and unleashed a low effort from around just outside the box into the bottom corner.

Redditch's reply was fairly instant, with Watts taking the ball up the wing and slotting it neatly past Platt in the 46th minute.

Jason Cowley almost headed Sporting into the lead midway through the second half, but was unable to convert Jak Hickman's superb cross.

Cowley had a further two efforts brilliantly saved by Kieran Boucher in the final 20 minutes, but the winner would eventually come deep into stoppage time.

A corner led to a scramble inside the box, the result of which saw the ball land at the feet of Broadhurst, who was able to poke home into the bottom corner to secure the win for Sporting.
