Bromsgrove Sporting's first pre-season foray against a side from a higher division ended in a 0-0 draw versus Leamington, at the Victoria Ground on Saturday afternoon.

In a game of few clear cut chances, it was the team's respective defences that came out on top, as Sporting extended their unbeaten run in 2020/21 pre-season friendlies to seven matches, with only one remaining - against Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday.

The 8th minute saw Gift Mussa play a long ball to the trialist who shone against Hednesford Town on Thursday - he forced Leamington keeper Jake Weaver into a low save.

Half an hour in, Nathan Hayward and Will Shorrock both had efforts blocked, while seven minutes later, Sporting stopper Daniel Platt tipped a shot from just inside the box over the bar.

In the final moments of the half, Leon Broadhurst and Mussa both had headers in quick succession, but neither properly tested Weaver.

Leamington had some opportunities early in the second half; one just two minutes in that was put wide from around 10 yards out, with a couple of others hit directly into the path of Platt.

Charlie Dowd and Shorrock had shots inside the last 15 minutes but were unable to break the deadlock.
